About the Segantini Atelier

The Segantini Atelier in Maloja is a unique cultural site — once the studio of Symbolist painter Giovanni Segantini, and now a space where art, history, and alpine light converge.

Built in 1897 as a model for a panoramic pavilion, the round wooden building was later used by his sons, Gottardo and Mario Segantini, and now hosts seasonal exhibitions and intimate cultural programming.

Today, it serves as both a memorial and a living museum, inviting visitors to step into the world of one of Switzerland’s greatest artists.

About the Verein Segantini Maloja,

the cultural association responsible for preserving the Atelier and promoting the heritage of the Segantini family.

Through curated exhibitions, restoration efforts, and public events, the association keeps the Atelier active, accessible, and artistically relevant.

The Verein also manages archival materials, collaborates with regional institutions, and publishes research related to Segantini’s life and art.

“Art is light — and light is life.”
— Giovanni Segantini
